Yemen has long shores all over the Red Sea including the South entrance "Bab Al-Mandab" i.e. "Gate of Lament" which separates the Peninsula from the African continent. And over the Arabian Sea with a direct access to the Indian Ocean with many tourist islands all around (its worthwhile mentioning a film produced by KOSTO was nicely show under the sea living in HUNAISH ISLAND (1335 ft height above sea level precisely indicated possibility to establish DIVING CENTER, (DIVE TRAVEL) A German investor encouraged to apply to establish a Tourist Center there. The execution was delayed because of the attack of Eritirean on the Island. Please peruse extract of Asharq Al-Awsat regarding the Ministry of Tourism records indicates total number of tourists visiting Yemen during 1997 will reach 120,000 tourists compared to 73,000 tourists 1996, over 3,700 European Tourists celebrated the 1998 New Year in the Desert, riding camel caravans, etc. The Ministry estimates the total annual number could reach 500,000 tourist after 2 years in according to the current arrangements and bookings indications. Therefore, the undersigned estimates their spendings over 3 billion dollars. New Division of Regions: Mukalla & Seiyun will be separated into two GOVERNORATES, perhaps other provinces from the North possibly will be added which contains or close to the most interested ancient cities. Government 5 years Comprehensive Plan worth over 1.8 billion dollars mostly touched all infrastructural areas covered all provinces is another factor to plan on tourism sector when entering the pleasant century very comfortably matching other worldwide activities.
We admit there are still unlikely negative behaviours such as kidnapping tourists, etc. which has our most concern and regret. We are confident, as we are aware of the circumstances and the Government concern to solve these problems wisely soon and forever. So, we shall proceed, prudently and cautiously can avoid the risks, besides the government has majority of publics' support to achieve its aim. Live Yemen!
